Keeping God, Family, and Politics Together: A Good Christian’s Ethos

A nation is driven by its leaders for better or worse. And yet, the leaders are born out of the nation. They represent their people, their aspirations, and their collective wisdom in what they want to achieve together. Without a collective goal, people are lost! How will they develop a noble goal for themselves if those in authority do not follow the commandments of God?

Every Christian is a shepherd in his or her own right. A father leads a family, a mother educates her children, and a businessman is accountable for his employees. This is the way of the world and the law of nature that God has ordained in our world. If we keep shying away from taking responsibility or taking part in the affairs of our neighborhood, our city, our state, and our country, how can we blame anybody for not taking what we want seriously?

If people who say they believe in God do not stand up and work to build their nation as God wants to see it, do they have any right to complain when a godless group of ruffians finds their way into the halls of power? Do they have any right to talk about how the country is going away from God?

Jesus Christ was the first example of who a Christian should be. He was born in a society of culture, art, and politics. Some call it a golden era for western civilization and knowledge, much like the world we see around us today. Even with all the rapport, that system was wrong. It denounced the true God and challenged His law, and Jesus rose to fight this injustice with his peaceful movement. A movement which was, in every sense of the word, a political one - though much more too.

If Jesus was the best Christian and he saw the need of political leadership to right the ways of his nation, will we not follow in his footsteps?

As a responsible citizen of this society and nation, it is your duty - it is my duty - to do our part before we put blame on others.

Dating for Couples with Kids

Investigating the Background during Dating: A Good Idea?

Dating can be a complicated process. It becomes even more complicated when you are a single parent with kids who is trying to look for love. The prospective partner must not only win your heart and treat you well, but they should be equally kind, respectful and warm towards your children.

Having worked with single parent support groups for a good 18 years, I can safely vouch for the fact that it is highly important for you to really know who you are dating before you introduce them to your family. I have lost count of the number of stories narrated to me that involve children who were victimized by their parent’s partner, while they were only dating.

And each story is more heartbreaking than the last one.

Being a single parent comes with its own set of challenges. You have to do the job of two people making sure that you set a great example for your kids to follow, as many times as you possibly can. Even in love and relationships. Suppose you have met somebody and you have nothing but good things to say about them. They are smart, intelligent and have a great sense of humor -- you are sure your kids will love them too.

But is the person you are dating, somebody that can be trusted with your children?

Our children are nothing less of a gift straight from God. It only makes sense to treat them that way too. You need to find out if your partner would be good to your kids as good as they are to you.

Even if you have been dating somebody for over 4 months, there is no guarantee that that person is not hiding anything from you. What if they are? You deserve to know. Getting someone’s background investigated can unearth several things that can help you predict what they would be like in the future.

Maybe the person you are dating was unable to keep their last job because of their uncontrollable temper? Maybe they were charged with a sexual harassment case? How many people do you know who would confess such things to your face?

Most importantly, how are those people in question going to be any different towards you and/or your kids?

Harris County offers incredible background investigation services which you should definitely avail. Have your partner’s background investigated by them before introducing them to your family.

If there is something you should know about them, you will know. If there is nothing suspicious that shows up, your heart will rest easy knowing that they are safe to be around with, for you and your kids both.

It’s a win-win situation.
